Stores/Purchasing Assistant

Job Title:              Stores Administrator/Operative

Reports to:          Purchasing Manager


The goal is to meet and exceed ‘clean to build dates’ by accurately and efficiently providing requisitioned materials by maintaining an efficient functioning and tidy stores.


Health and Safety

  1. Adhere to all Health & Safety at Work Regulations, and the Company Health & Safety Policy or as directed by the Company including Method Statements, Risk Assessments and Toolbox Talks
  2. Ensure you are adequately trained and competent in the work you are undertaking, including specialist training.  Report any shortcomings to your Line Manager
  3. Ensure plant and equipment used to complete your work is safe to use.  Report any defects to your Line Manager.  Do NOT use defective plant or equipment
  4. Report all accidents and near misses to your Line Manager
  5. Ensure you familiarise yourself with Company Health & Safety including first aiders, fire wardens and welfare facilities
  6. Promote a safe working environment both within your department and across the Company, especially when representing the Company at a customer’s premises


Main Duties and responsibilities

  1. Ensure stores and surrounding areas are kept clean, tidy, and organised
  2. Maintain security of stores to inhibit unauthorised staff or visitors from gaining access unless otherwise agreed
  3. Pick material requisitions as instructed by your Line Manager
  4. Ensure materials are ready for collection by the required ‘clean to build date’
  5. Provide ‘back-order’ details to the Department that requisitioned the materials to limit disruption to Project progress
  6. Promptly complete material returns to replenish materials to stock and allow for job costing and invoicing to be completed
  7. Ensure movement of Goods-In and Goods-Out are accurately recorded on the Company MRP system
  8. Carryout material cycle counts and stock takes as instructed by your Line Manager
  9. Ensure stock levels are adequately maintained
  10. Collect materials from Suppliers or deliver materials to Site on occasion, as requested by your Line Manager
  11. Assist procurement manager in purchasing process eg raise purchase order and liase with suppliers
  12. Ensure tasks are completed in a cost and time effective manner while adhering to H&S rules
  13. Conduct yourself in a professional manner, ensuring good communication and maintain good relations with team mates, work colleagues, customers, and other contractors
  14. Ensure good house-keeping practices


Other Duties

  1. Ensure you clock-in and out daily
  2. Adhere to Company policy when driving a Company Vehicle
  3. Ensure annual leave is booked in advance with adequate notice given
  4. Take care of and maintain Axon uniform and PPE.  Liaise with your Line Manager if/when replacements are required
  5. Perform any other duties as requested by your Line Manager or a member of the Management team, to the best of your ability
